Vatanix is looking for a Technician Passive to join our team in Chennai, India. The Technician Passive is responsible for installing, testing, and maintaining passive networking components, including structured cabling systems (copper and fiber), conduits, cable trays, patch panels, and server racks.

This role ensures a high-quality physical network infrastructure that supports the performance and scalability of IT systems.

Responsibilities

Cable Laying & Routing

• UTP/STP/Fiber Deployment
  Lay UTP/STP/Fiber optic cables as per design and site conditions.
• Structured Cabling Pathways
  Ensure proper routing through conduits, trays, raceways, or ducts.
• Maintain Cable Standards
  Follow standard practices to maintain minimal bends, interference, and distance limits.

Termination & Labelling

• Network Cable Termination
  Terminate cables on patch panels, faceplates, I/O ports, and network racks.
• Cable Termination Services
  Label cables and components according to the provided cabling standards and documentation.
• Security Patch Management
  Monitor security updates and patches and apply them as needed.

Testing & Certification

• Perform Network Cable Continuity Tests
  Perform cable continuity tests using tools like Fluke, OTDR, or basic LAN testers.
• Document & Certify Links
  Document test results and certify links as per industry standards (e.g., TIA/EIA, ISO/IEC).

Rack & Patch Panel Setup

• Network Rack Installation
  Install and organize network racks, patch panels, and cable management systems.
• Rack Patching & Labeling
  Maintain proper patching and labeling within racks.

Site Coordination

• Team Coordination On-Site
  Work closely with site engineers, project managers, and electrical teams.
• Coordinated Cable Routing
  Ensure cable routes are coordinated with civil, HVAC, and electrical services.

Safety Compliance

• Safe Cable Handling
  Adhere to all site safety standards during cable pulling, ladder work, and tool handling.
• PPE and Safety Compliance
  Use appropriate PPE and follow risk mitigation guidelines.

Documentation

• Cable Tagging Records
  Maintain accurate site-level cable layout diagrams and tagging sheets.
• Project Closeout Support
  Assist in preparing As-Built drawings and handover documents.

Maintenance & Support

• Network Cable Troubleshooting
  Attend to network cable issues like physical damage or disconnections.
• System Upgrade Support
  Support system upgrades, expansions, or re-routing as required.
